Not quite the Beatles: Dressed down X Factor hopefuls 1 Direction recreate the Beatles iconic Abbey Road picture
Hundreds of fans, tourists and fellow musicians have recreated the iconic image over the years, from U2, Green Day and Kanye West to Sesame Street, Snoopy and The Simpsons, and most recently The Saturdays.
The Beatles' 1969 Abbey Road album cover is one of the most iconic images in music history, so perhaps X Factor hopefuls 1 Direction will take it as a good omen when they see images of themselves inadvertently following in the band's footsteps.
The location is different, their clothes aren't quite as stylish, and Paul, John, George and Ringo weren't sipping on Starbucks frappuccinos when they posed for their shot, but the similarity is nevertheless uncanny.

Niall Horan, 17, Harry Stiles, 16, Zain Malik, 17, Liam Payne, 17 and Louis Tomlinson, 18, were snapped crossing the road in Covent Garden outside their recording studio after taking a coffee break from rehearsals for this weekend's live show.
The five band mates, dressed down in trainers, tracksuit bottoms and hoodies, crossed the zebra crossing in single file, just like the legendary musicians over forty years before them.
Despite the drizzle and chilly weather, the teens opted for ice cold beverages to refuel during their lengthy practice. Other contestants including fellow band Belle Amie and over 28's hopeful John Adeleye were spotted leaving the recording and dance studio to stock up on food and drink.

The contestants will perform live on the ITV show this Saturday after winning their place in the final 12 during last weekend's episodes. Both 1 Direction and Belle Amie's members auditioned as solo acts but failed to get through.
Judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger placed them in groups and sent them through to the Judges' houses round, saying they felt they were too good to lose.
1 Direction, aged 16- 18 are bound to win fans among teenage girls, with their Justin Bieber hair, good looks and sweet voices. They have been given bookies odds of 9/2 chance of winning.

The contestants, who are living in a luxury mansion in North London, have been spotted during breaks from rehearsing at the Covent Garden studios all week.
Cheryl Cole's favourite Cher Lloyd is already gaining a diva reputation after stepping out with two minders and covering herself with a pashmina yesterday.
Controversial contestant Kattie Waissel also emerged arm-in-arm with her 'soul mate', Storm Lee from the over 28's category. While bookies favourite Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson and Mary Byrne have also been spotted grabbing food between gruelling rehearsals.
