Lovely Blake Lively is talk of The Town in a tight black dress at red carpet premiere
0 comments Posted by st at 12:23 AMBy Daily Mail Reporter Lovely Lively: Blake turned out for the red carpet premiere of her new film The Town in Boston last night
She famously plays an over-privileged New York teen in the TV hit Gossip Girl, but Blake Lively has graduated to a Hollywood silver screen star.
And the 23-year-old didn't disappoint as she turned out for the red carpet premiere of her new film The Town in Boston last night.
She looked a picture of A-list style in a figure-hugging black dressed that featured lace detailing.
Her co-star in the film, Ben Affleck, also turned out for the occasion.
In the movie, Blake plays a drug-dealing single mother called Krista Coughlin, while Affleck plays her ex-boyfriend - who also happens to be a bank robber wanted by the FBI.
Mad Men's John Hamm meanwhile plays an FBI agent on Affleck's trail.
However, despite her high profile, Blake revealed she had to audition for the role.
She explained: 'I play a drug-dealing townie from Boston who's on welfare - a really dark, interesting character.
Get the gossip: The actress chatted to the press about her big screen role
'I auditioned for Ben and had to fight for that role and prove myself - he gave me the job on the spot. Do I'm going to be really spoiled if I don't get a job on the spot after this!'
Meanwhile, Blake recently talked to Allure magazine about her job insecurities and her ambitions outside of acting including owning a restaurant and making lots of babies.
The Gossip Girl star opened up about her insecurities surrounding her acting ability.
'You make your mistakes on a bigger screen for everyone to see,' she said.
'I’d look at what we shot on a day and it was like, "Oh, gosh, I’m terrible."'
But this didn't stop her from fighting for her role in her new film The Town, directed by Ben Affleck.
Dark side: Blake plays a drug dealer in the film, which also stars (from left) Chris Cooper, Rebecca Hall, Jon Hamm, Ben Affleck and Jeremy Renner
'This part was originally supposed to be for a 37-year-old woman—she’s a mother—but when I read the script, I knew I had to have the part,' she claimed.
'It was selfish of me. I worried I would ruin it for other people. But I had to try it.'
In the film, which is officially released this weekend, Blake plays a 29-year old single mom struggling with addiction who's ex-boyfriend (played by Affleck) is a Boston based bank robber wanted by the FBI.
However motivated she is in her current career, the actress has other ambitions in life including opening a restaurant.
I've arrived! Affleck plays a Boston-based bank robber wanted by the FBI
'I want to have a brunch place, a bakery, and a Southern restaurant—because my family’s from Georgia—and then I want a place that is all-over-the-world cuisine.'
'I take a cooking class everywhere I travel. I find it’s the best way to get to know a culture. It’s what people bring to the family every day, what they break bread over—it’s a very intimate thing.'
Blake is more coy about her relationship with Gossip Girl co-star and childhood friend Penn Badgely.
'Yeah, I don’t comment on my relationships, so you can skin that one! My anonymity is something I treasure. Wanting to be an actor and wanting to be famous are different.'
When asked about her future all she would say is: 'I want babies. Lots of babies. Of course!'
The Town, which has had rave reviews so far from critics, opens in UK cinemas on 24 September.

'George wasn't that experienced in sex scenes': Co-star reveals how she got Clooney to 'let go'

Steamy: Violante Placido and George Clooney in The American
He has long been considered a heartthrob who women would do anything to get close to.
But George Clooney's sultry Italian co-star in The American doesn't seem to be all that intimidated by the heartthrob.
Violente Placido and Clooney had to film some very graphic sex scenes together. And Placido said her 49-year-old co-star confessed he was lacking experience.
'He confessed … that he didn't do lots of sex scenes,' Placido told People magazine.
'I felt like this was in a way something new to him, he wasn't that experienced.'
Placido, who plays prostitute Clara and Clooney's love interest in the film, explained that Clooney had trouble relaxing during the intimate scenes.
But once she convinced Clooney to trust her, it was much easier.
'We had to find a way to make it natural and let your body speak somehow,' Placido says.
'We were very open to one another to try and make it work. We just said "let’s trust each other" and we did. I felt like we had to let ourselves go.'
And she insists that the sex scene was a pivotal part of the film - hence the need to get it done perfectly.
Up close and personal: Italian actress Violante Placido plays a prostitute called Clara in the movie
'It had to look real; it is the turning point for the two characters,' she says. 'I can tell you that watching it, I don't feel as calm as I did when I was on set filming it. Just watching it is a little like … wow.'
Clooney plays an assassin called Jack in the movie, a man who is attempting to escape his trade after one last assignment. He hides out in the Italian countryside, which is where he meets Placido's character Clara.
And he is right at home filming in Italy, as he owns a home on Lake Como.
Clooney has been dating Italian model and TV presenter Elisabetta Canalis since last summer.
The American opens in the U.S on Wednesday.

Angelina Jolie swamps her figure in long black dress at Berlin premiere of Salt... but can't hide her bony shoulder blades
0 comments Posted by st at 9:03 PMBy Mail Online Reporter
Skinny: Angelina Jolie's long black BCBG Max Azria dress did little to conceal her thin figure and couldn't hide her protruding shoulder blades and skinny arms
She's never been the curviest of actresses, but Angelina Jolie looked skinner than ever as she arrived at the Berlin premiere of Salt.
The 35-year-old actress chose a long black BCBG Max Azria dress to conceal her tiny figure, but couldn't hide her protruding shoulder blades and painfully thin arms in the halterneck number.
And even her dramatic black stone necklace did little to detract from her noticeably skinny figure.

What a difference: Angelina looked noticeably thinner than she did at the Golden Globes in January 2009
It is not the first time Angelina has been criticised for being too thin.
In 2007, the mother-of-six spoke about the criticism, and said any weight loss was down to the death of her mother Marcheline Betrand.
She said: 'I've always been lean and this year I lost my mom and I've gone through a lot.
'Instead of people saying I look like a person dealing with something emotionally, they assume it's because I want to fit into skinny jeans.
Jutting: Angelina's protruding bones on her neck and shoulders could clearly be seen as she talked to press
'Someone saying to me that I'm thin is not a compliment.'
The actress also lose weight while training for her role as Evelyn Salt in Salt, the story of a CIA Agent accused of being a Russian spy.
According to the film's stunt co-ordinator Simon Crane, Jolie learned 'a combination of Muay Thai and Krav Maga' martial arts, and trained for two hours a day, four times a week, in preparation for the action-packed fight sequences in the film.
Protruding: Angelina adjusts her dress as she signs autographs for fans at the Berlin premiere
Bony: The backless dress highlighted Angelina's skinny figure and thin arms
Jolie is currently on a European tour promoting her new film, and is accompanied by her two-year-old twins Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon, while partner Brad Pitt looks after their other four children.
Meanwhile, it has been claimed Jolie and Pitt are in the middle of designing a clothing line for children, the profits of which will be donated to their charity the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
And it's not the first time the pair have pooled their creative talents, having previously designed a jewellery line for Asprey, with proceeds going to The Education Partnership for Children of Conflict.

Katie Holmes plays grieving widow Jackie Kennedy in recreation of JFK's heartbreaking funeral

First Lady in mourning: Katie Holmes plays grieving Jackie Kennedy while filming JFK funeral scenes for her new mini-series in Canada
Katie Holmes has recreated one of the most heartbreaking moments in American history.
The actress filmed scenes as grieving widow Jackie Kennedy at the funeral of JFK while working on a mini-series about the presidential family.
The 31-year-old actress, who has spent the past month filming The Kennedys in Toronto, Canada, was dressed in a black shift dress, long leather gloves with the First Lady's signature bob.
Boy in blue: Katie's little co-star cut a familiar and moving figure
At one point she was seen clutching her solemn little co-star, who is playing John Kennedy Jr.
The President was assassinated on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, and buried in Arlington Cemetery following a state funeral three days later.
An estimated one million Americans lined the streets for the procession in Washington, DC, while millions more tuned in on television.
Jackie and her two children, John Jr, three, and five-year-old Caroline, rode behind the hearse in a black car, accompanied by Robert and Edward Kennedy.
Heartbreaking moment in history: JFK Jr. saluted his father's casket while standing alongside Jacqueline and Caroline Kennedy at the 1963 funeral. Senator Ted Kennedy and Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy are seen behind them
One of the most moving moments of the day came when JFK Jr stepped forward as the coffin left the cathedral and put his hand to his forehead in salute.
Of course JFK Jr was also to die young, when the light aircraft he was piloting plunged into the Atlantic in 1999. His wife and sister-in-law also died.
Holmes' eight-hour TV series covers the rise of the family's political dynasty and JFK's controversial death.
She admits she has sought acting advice on the role from her husband Tom Cruise.
'I definitely come home and say to him, "So, imagine a scene… how would you play it?" And he's helpful and sweet and gracious,' she said in an interview with The New York Times.
The Kennedys, which also stars Greg Kinnear, is set to air in the U.S. next year on the History Channel.

Couldn't she have made a bit more of an effort? Jennifer Aniston keeps it simple at The Switch premiere
0 comments Posted by st at 12:06 AMBy Daily Mail Reporter
All-American girl: Jennifer Aniston sparkles in Lanvin at the Los Angeles premiere of The Switch in Hollywood
With that hair and that figure, Jennifer Aniston doesn't need much to look a knock-out.
But even her All-American, classic taste is starting to look a bit tired, as she stuck to a simple strapless Lanvin dress at the premiere of The Switch last night.
With her blonde hair down past her shoulders, and strappy Josie and Lottie sandals, she looked effortlessly beautiful, if a little under dressed for the big Hollywood premiere of the film she stars in.
The 41-year-old carried a Ferragamo crocodile clutch as she walked the red carpet in Hollywood.
Her premiere came on the same night that her one-time love rival Angelina Jolie was walking the red carpet in London.
In contrast to Aniston's less is more approach, Angelina wore a sequinned floor-length Amanda Wakely dress.
Her partner Brad Pitt, Jennifer's ex-husband, was not present, with filming commitments keeping him away.
Different styles: While Jennifer was promoting her movie in LA, Angelina Jolie was at the London premiere of Salt in a sparkling gown
In The Switch, Jennifer plays Kassie, a single woman who is desperate for a baby and decides to have artificial insemination to fall pregnant.
Her best friend Wally (Jason Bateman), who is in love with her, drunkenly switches the donor sperm with his own, and doesn't tell her.
Jennifer admitted that she still wishes for a family of her own.
Besties: Jennifer and co-star Juliette Lewis looked like great pals as they cuddled on the red carpet
'Yeah, I have said it years before and I still say it today,' she said. But will she turn to the 'turkey baster' method, like Kassie?
'I don't have plans on that, no,' she said.
But speaking to Entertainment Weekly recently, she hinted 'I'm on the verge of it in some way... it's something I long for.'
When asked on the red carpet if she had heard from conservative talk show host Bill O'Reilly, who said recently that her comments about women not needing a man to have a baby were ' destructive to our society', Aniston reportedly smiled and shook her head.
Blue beauty: Actress and rock star Juliette kept the red carpet interesting with some very bright blue hair

Call the guards! Katie Price is let loose at The Expendables premiere as British military joins the red carpet parade
0 comments Posted by st at 8:48 PMBy Chris Johnson
Here comes trouble: Katie Price turned heads last night at the London premiere of The Expendables, wearing a see-through tunic dress and Lycra-style knee-high boots
In a film featuring some of the most famous screen movie stars, there's undeniably going to be some hot competition to grab the limelight.
But as the likes of Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren and Jason Statham turned out to the London premiere of their new film, The Expendables, it wasn't each other they had to worry about.
In fact the trio had a new rival in town in the form of Katie Price, who ensured all eyes were firmly fixed on her as she joined the red carpet contingent, which included members of the British military.
True to form, the glamour model made certain she was centre of attention as she waltzed into Leicester Square wearing a see-through black tunic dress and Lycra-style knee-high boots.
The mother-of-three then put on show for the assembled photographers, striking a series of poses as if she had just turned up for a modelling shoot.
At the event last night, Hollywood hardman Stallone said he wanted to be a role model to youngsters
Centre of attention: The former glamour model threw a series of sultry poses as she descended on to the red carpet and posed for photographers
Muscle parade: Swedish actor Dolph Lundgren, Hollywood hardman Sylvester Stallone and British star Jason Statham, three of the action heroes who appear in The Expendables
The Rocky star was in London promoting his new movie that he wrote, directed and appears in.
The film boasts a stunning array of muscle, including Jason Statham and Dolph Lundgren, who were also on hand and posed with the members of the British military.
Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis also star in the film, but were not there for the UK premiere.
Hardmen together: The trio posed with members of the British military who turned up to the event. The premiere was supporting military charity The ForceSelect Foundation
The plot centres on a group of ex-SAS soldiers who battle an evil drugs baron.
Stallone, 64, said: 'Every generation has to have a hero and this generation has the superhero, it's evolved. But after Avatar it's like, 'Stop, let's go back to basics'.
'Young men need good examples, role models. I know I do, and I hope I might be one of the influences on young guys.'
You looking at me? Stallone, who wrote, directed and appears in the film, gives co-star Jason Statham a firm pat on the back
Fan mania: The actor signs autographs for the hundreds of people who arrived to get a glimpse of the stars
The veteran action star was delighted to see British military officers in uniform on the red carpet as the premiere was supporting military charity The ForceSelect Foundation.
Stallone marched around a group of guards in bearskin hats and tried to jump up to match their height.
He was also amused to hear the crowd filling Leicester Square cheer 'Rocky! Rocky!'
Military man: Lundgren holds up his fists as he stands alongside members of the military
He laughed: 'Unbelievable - These guys weren't even born.'
Stallone claimed the formula for the ultimate action movie was 'simple - heart, energy and humour'.
He added: 'But I forgot the humour in Rambo - but heart and energy.'
Glamorous: Stunning former EastEnders actress Preeya Kalidas looked the part in an intricate backless dress
Dressing to impress: Lisa Snowdon went for a classic pencil-skirted dress, colourful Liz McClarnon slipped into a maxi number while singer Eliza Doolittle bared her legs in a very short pink outfit
Statham and Lundgren also attended the premiere and were full of praise for their director and co-star.
British actor Statham said: 'A lot of the people you put on a pedestal, these big celebrities, they're not everything you expect.
'But he's everything you hoped him to be. He's twice the man, he's so funny, and it's a privilege to meet somebody like that. He's the best man to take to the boozer.'
Lundgren said: 'He's pretty tough and he's pretty talented. I worked with him before on Rocky IV 25 years ago. I like working with him.'
Earlier in the day the trio met troops from the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment, at the Wellington Barracks in London, and got to grips with some of the kind of weapons may be familiar with from their action screen roles.

Sneak peek: Sixties favourite Yogi Bear returns to screens in 3D... but critics aren't impressed
0 comments Posted by st at 10:41 PMBy Kelly Hartog
Sneak peek: The new 3D film Yogi Bear sees Dan Aykroyd voicing Yogi and Justin Timberlake voicing Boo Boo
He may have started off as a singer, but Justin Timberlake's undeniable talent has won him praise for everything from acting to producing.
But his golden touch may have let him down when it comes to his latest project - the 3D version of Yogi Bear.
Critics have slated the film following the release of the trailer, saying they 'feel sorry' for the star.
SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO...
Dan Aykroyd takes on the title role as the voice of Yogi, and Justin Timberlake plays his trusty sidekick Boo Boo in the 3D full-length feature film from Warner Bros.
Combining live-action and CGI, the plot is reflective of these tough economic times.
Mayor Brown decides to sell Jellystone Park because it is losing business - leaving Yogi and Boo Boo homeless.
So they decide to team up with their nemesis Ranger Smith in an effort to save the park.
Helping hands: Yogi and Boo Boo (aka Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake) work together on a project in the trailer from Yogi Bear
The film revamps the 1960's Hana-Barbera animated series with 21st century technology and other stars include Anna Faris, TJ Miller and Tom Cavanagh.
Critics are unimpressed.
'A combination live-action and CGI feature-length Yogi Bear adaptation in 3-D with Dan Aykroyd voicing Yogi and Justin Timberlake doing Boo-Boo: Sounds like a terrible idea, right?' writes New York Magazine.
'Well, here comes the first trailer to ... not at all disabuse you of that notion.
Animation meets live action: Ranger Smith played by Tom Kavanagh chats with Yogi and Boo Boo
'It's been asked a million times about a million other half-baked remakes, but what is the logic behind making a movie adaptation whose target audience is, in the absolute best-case scenario, vaguely aware of the original source material?'
The Washington Post was equally dismissive.
'Just watching the first 30 seconds might make you feel sorry for Dan Aykroyd, Justin Timberlake, Hanna, Barbera, Jellystone Park, Tom Cavanagh and any poor parent forced to pay upward of $8 to sit through 90-minutes-plus of this dumber-than-the-average-animated-fare dreck.'
Official poster: The 3D live animation film will be released in December in America
Yogi Bear is directed by former visual effects supervisor Eric Brevig, who also directed critically-panned 3D Journey to the Center of the Earth.
However, Warner Bros has modelled its 3D Yogi Bear on the same format that saw their two productions of Alvin and the Chipmunks and G-Force bring in huge audiences.
The film is set to be released in the U.S. on December 17.

By Sarah Bull and Eleanor Shipton Daddy's girl: There's no mistaking the genetics of four-year-old Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt
Their parents want them to enjoy all the fun of a normal childhood.
But with two of Hollywood's biggest stars as mum and dad, the Jolie-Pitt youngsters might find it hard to avoid a sprinkling of stardust themselves.
Four-year-old Shiloh Jolie-Pitt certainly looked every inch a screen idol as she walked through a Japanese airport yesterday, hand-in-hand with mother Angelina Jolie, and adopted 'rainbow family' siblings Maddox, eight, and Pax, six, and five-year-old Zahara
But with her cropped blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes, it was dad Brad Pitt who she most resembled.
Miss Jolie, 35, has spoken of her daughter's tomboy tendencies, discussing Shiloh's request that her parents crop her blonde hair and referring to her daughter's dress-sense as 'Montenegro style'.
She told Vanity Fair magazine last month: 'It's how people dress there. She likes tracksuits, she likes suits.
'She likes to dress like a boy. She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys' everything. She thinks she's one of the brothers.'
Stylish: Angelina Jolie and her children (left to right) Maddox, Zahara, Pax and Shiloh walk through New Tokyo International Airport in Narita after arriving in Japan this morning
Trendy: All four children appear to have different styles, while their mother looks effortlessly stylish in a black silk dress and beige flip flops
And Shiloh's attempts to emulate her brothers have extended to demanding that her family calls her John at all times.
She has answered only to this for nearly a year because of her love of the story of Peter Pan (in the book by JM Barrie, John is Wendy's younger brother).
'We've got to call her John,' Brad Pitt revealed, noting that when he started to ask, 'Shi, do you want...' she would interrupt with: 'John. I'm John.'
The actor, shown below, added: 'I'll say, "John, would you like some orange juice?" And she goes, "No!"'
The children were accompanying their mother on a promotional tour for her new action thriller, Salt, which marks her return to work after an 18-month break to look after her family.
'Montenegro style': Angelina said recently that Shiloh always likes dressing as a boy, so she kits her out as 'a little dude'
Looking trendy in a variety of smart outfits, Maddox, Pax, Shiloh and Zahara clung to their mother's hand as they walked through Japan's New Tokyo International Airport in Narita yesterday morning.
And despite having to control four children on her own, Angelina looked the picture of calm as she strolled through the airport in a fashionable black silk dress and tan flip flops.
The only time the 35-year-old actress gave any hint of the stress she may have been feeling was when she told eight-year-old Maddox off for apparently hitting his younger brother.
However, there were some absences from the group as they walked through the airport - namely Angelina's partner Brad Pitt and their two-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox
Giggles all round: The children can't stop smiling as they share a joke with their Hollywood star mother
It is thought Brad is looking after the youngsters while Angelina travels the world promoting her new action movie Salt.
But the 46-year-old actor is there in spirit, it seems - if only to influence his children's way of dressing.
While Pax appears to be attempting to emulate Brad's style in a cool beige linen suit and flat cap, Maddox seems to be going for an altogether more trendy look in a white vest, black trousers and white trainers.
And Shiloh and Zahara both went for a summery look in yellow - with Zahara wearing a white top and white shorts accessorised with a bright yellow cardigan, and Shiloh teaming her beige trousers with a a pale lemon T-shirt.
Accidents: Maddox hits Pax's face as they mess around, but the action doesn't go down too well with Angelina
Discipline: Angelina tells Maddox off after hitting Pax, while Shiloh looks entirely disinterested by the situation
The actress recently spoke about son Maddox, the first child she adopted, and the twins.
She added to Vanity Fair magazine: 'Maddox is a real intellectual, which I can take no credit for genetically. He's great at school, great at history.
'He feels like he could be a writer or travel the world and learn about places and things.
'The twins are a classic boy and girl. She's really female. And he's really a little dude.'
On Sunday night, Angelina attended the Salt premiere in Moscow, Russia, looking stunning in a red halterneck dress.
In the film, released in the UK this week, Angelina plays a woman called Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent who is accused of being a KGB spy and then goes on the run.
