Take a peek at the movie that is built around the King of Pop's rehearsal footage left behind after his sudden death through new trailer which was premiered during 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
MTV has unraveled the first trailer of the movie documenting Michael Jackson's final performance rehearsals days before his death, "This Is It", during this year's Video Music Awards. Less than two minutes long, the sneak peek shares glimpses of what to expect from the documentary movie.
The trailer is filled with some of his hit songs such as "Man in the Mirror" and "Smooth Criminal". Featuring a look behind the curtain of Michael's planned comeback concerts, it teases on the dance numbers as well as all types of pyro and special effects. Throughout the trailer, snippets of Michael's commentaries as well as what the crew have to say about him can be heard.
"This Is It" offers a behind-the-scenes footage of Michael preparing for a series of the O2 London shows he was rehearsing before he passed away on June 25. It will compile more than 100 hours of video footage concert promoter AEG Live shot during April, May and June 2009. Directed by Kenny Ortega, this movie will be released in theaters across the world for a limited two-week engagement, starting on October 28.
At 2009 VMAs, MTV didn't only present the trailer of the much-anticipated movie. The network also kicked off the show with a special dedication to the late King of Pop. VMAs was opened with a long speech from Madonna and followed with a performance from an army of dancers who danced to some of Jackson's biggest hits. The tribute was peaked with Janet Jackson's appearance during which she sang her half of the "Scream" duet.
