Paul W.S. Anderson states the principal photography of the adventure movie will be kicked off in September 2010, but he and the studio are currently casting the actors/actresses.

Since Paul W.S. Anderson announced in September that he was developing "The Three Musketeers", a 3D adaptation of Alexander Dumas' novel with the same title, the filmmaker has made some progress with the upcoming movie project. Being interviewed by Steve Weintraub from Omelete on the set of his next film "Resident Evil: Afterlife", the helmer has given some updates about the status of the adventure film.

Anderson claimed they have begun selection of the cast members at this moment, while the production will be kicked off in September 2010. Teaming up with producer Jeremy Bolt, he will make the film with around 80 million dollars budget.

With such amount of money, it is more likely that the film is shot in 2D and then converted into 3D, particularly for the chase scenes on horseback. As for the storyline, Anderson promised it will be a more contemporary style, with lots of action and very novel, but still set in the 18th century. Moreover, he said the film will be "playful," based on the book, but "narrated differently."

The new film version of "The Three Musketeers" is said to follow the story of a young man who leaves home to become a member of the fighting force of the French king's royal household. Along the way, he makes friends with three of the force's best - and most disgraced - members, Athos, Porthos and Aramis, whose creed of friendship is "All for one and one for all!" Constantin Film eyes a 2011 release schedule for the movie
