Kim Kardashian and Glee star Lea Michele joined the mutual appreciation society as they both gushed over each other's outfits at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

The starlets started complimenting one another and swapped jewellery tips as they were interviewed on the red carpet by Ryan Seacrest outside the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles tonight.

Kim, 29, looked dazzling in a Grecian-style, floor length white Marchesa gown while Lea, 24, opted for a dark blue Oscar De La Renta dress, which Kim revealed she was 'freaking out' over.

While on the red carpet, Kim was quizzed about her relationship status, but appeared unsure whether she was 'taken' - despite being seen out and about with NFL hunk Miles Austin.

When asked whether she was 'taken' by E! presenter Seacrest, the curvy brunette said: 'I don't know, I don't know. I'm dating.'

And even though she looked immaculate in the figure-hugging number, Kim complained of difficulties choosing the right dress because she felt bloated from overeating the previous day.

The couple have been dating for 12 years and he joked that they were going to get married at the ceremony, with Westfeldt saying it would be an 'easy moment'.

Jimmy Fallon hosted the awards on NBC, which aired live across America after three decades of tape-delay broadcasts for the West Coast.

Fans shrieked from the bleachers outside the Nokia Theatre as Fallon arrived before showtime.

Desperate Housewives star Eva looked stunning a flowing black gown and was joined by her husband Tony Parker.

She said she had enjoyed her summer vacation in Europe and was now back to work on the set of the hit show, with Season Seven set to air next month.

Hit musical comedy show Glee about a high school glee club was led the nominees at Sunday's Emmy Awards, including bids for best comedy series and cast members Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele, Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer. The show was nominated for a total of 19 gongs.

Modern Family was another freshman comedy front-runner, while 30 Rock was trying for its fourth consecutive best comedy series Emmy and Mad Men competed for its third drama series trophy.

Others defending their title included Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad and Glenn Close of Damages, who claimed drama series acting honours last year, and, on the comedy side, Toni Collette of The United States of Tara and Alec Baldwin of 30 Rock.

The public had a hand in writing some of host Fallon's material. He planned to bring many celebrity presenters onstage with introductions submitted through Twitter.

Other Emmy contenders included Conan O'Brien's short-lived Tonight, which was nominated as best variety, music or comedy series while the show with Jay Leno back in charge was snubbed. David Letterman's Late Show also missed out on a nod, but 2009 winner The Daily Show With Jon Stewart was nominated.

The final season of Lost competed for best drama series and for acting honours for star Matthew Fox and supporting cast members Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson, chosen as best supporting drama actor last year.

HBO came into the ceremony as the kingpin after claiming 17 awards at the Aug. 21 creative arts Emmys, followed by ABC with 15 and Fox with nine. CBS, NBC and PBS each claimed seven.

The Pacific, the World War II miniseries produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, was the top nominee and captured a leading seven creative arts awards, which recognize technical and other achievements.

Ratings for the awards have increased importance: The TV academy's contract is up for renewal with the four major networks that had been airing the show in rotation for eight years, and the academy hopes last year's 8 percent audience increase is a trend after an all-time low in 2008.

The show's live nationwide broadcast and scheduling could be factors. The Emmys typically have aired immediately before TV's mid-September kickoff, but NBC pushed up the awards telecast to avoid a conflict with its Sunday night National Football League games that begin Sept. 12.

But fewer people tend to watch summertime TV, and the 5 p.m. PDT pre-primetime slot for the Emmys on the West Coast also tends to draw a smaller audience.

Though Miss Earth 2010 will be held in Vietnam for the first time this November, Vietnam has not yet selected its representative.

The organizing board of Miss Earth 2010 announced events and activities of Miss Earth in Vietnam at a press conference in HCM City on August 25. At the meeting, the local media paid special attention to the host country’s contestant. The organizing board said that the Vietnamese contestant will be selected from the top 15 beauties of Miss Vietnam World 2010 pageant.



“We are considering choosing a deserving representative for Miss Earth pageant. She may be Miss Vietnam World 2010, the first or second runner-up or one in the top 15 of this contest. She must be beautiful, talented, has good knowledge of environment and has a passion for environmental activities,” said organizer Nguyen Cong Khe.


Miss Earth 2010 will take place in one month, with activities covering HCM City, Phan Thiet, Hoi An and Nha Trang. Contestants from 90 countries will be in HCM City as of November 4. They will attend a press conference in the city and some environmental activities, compete in the Miss Party and Gala Dinner.



They will move to Phan Thiet to join environmental activities and a festival to advertise Vietnam’s sports from November 15-17. In Hoi An, they will compete in Miss Ao Dai, attend the Earth Hour and the Lantern Festival, to call for fuel saving and natural resource protection.



Contestants will go to Nha Trang to prepare for the finale night and will meet with residents to talk about environmental protection and join various environmental activities.



Miss Earth 2010 pageant will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Vietnam. Vietnam will host several Miss Earth pageants over the next ten years. It is sponsored by the Philippines’ Carousel Productions group, which is closely connected with raising people’s awareness of environmental protection.

Singer Harry Connick Junior has described his pal Sandra Bullock as an 'incredible woman' whom he would 'thank God' to have as a wife.

The actor and jazz pianist gushed about the Oscar-winning actress as he discussed her relentless commitment to his beloved home city of New Orleans, devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

When asked by talk show host Larry King about Bullock's recent traumas over the breakdown of her marriage, Connick Jnr - who is happily married - seemed to send out a stark message to her cheating soon-to-be-ex-husband Jesse James.

'I think Sandy is an incredible woman and she doesn't need my prayers, she's so strong,' he said, during Friday night's special episode to mark the five-year anniversary of the deadly hurricane.

'I pray for her and I send her emails and tell her I love her and I hope she's doing well.

'That woman is one of the fiercest, strongest most dedicated people I know.

'It's sucks, man. Let's put it this way, if she was my wife I would be on my knees thanking God that I had a woman like that.

'Everybody's different but I know her pretty well. Like my wife now, I wouldn't screw that up for all the money in the world, for anything.'

Pointing to his own wedding ring, he added: 'This means a lot.

'It's a pretty serious commitment, I'm not passing judgment on anyone but whoever ends up with her (Bullock) for good is gonna be one lucky son of a gun.

'I know her son doesn't even know how lucky he is.'

Connick Jnr, 42, also hailed Hollywood movie star Brad Pitt for his efforts to rebuild the southern city - but surprisingly revealed that he had yet to meet him.

'I think it's great,' he said. 'Right after the storm I heard about his involvement and I wrote him a note to thank him for his commitment.

'He's very well known and well liked and we need all the help we can get. He's really committed to it, he's down here all the time doing a great job.

'He's a God send and I just hope that one day I can meet him and shake his hand and say "thank you" in person.'

Opening up about his own losses from the hurricane, which killed more than 1,800 people and caused £60 billion in properly damage, Connick Jnr told how he broke down in tears in front of his children for the first time.

'None of us had ever been through anything like that before, we tried to march through it as best we could,' said the songwriter, who has three daughters with former Victoria's Secret model Jill Goodacre.

'I just completely lost it. Two of my kids were there looking at me, they had never seen me cry before.

'It was impossible not to be affected by it, it was one of the most devastating things I'd ever seen.

'This is you home, your country it was very, very difficult to witness.'

Connick Jnr, who now lives in Connecticut, says he could not even face picking up a pen to write music in the aftermath of the tragedy.

'There are some things I can't write about, terrible personal tragedies,' he said.

Though his own relatives came through the natural disaster unharmed, the house he had grown up in was ultimately destroyed.

He has long been considered a heartthrob who women would do anything to get close to.

But George Clooney's sultry Italian co-star in The American doesn't seem to be all that intimidated by the heartthrob.

Violente Placido and Clooney had to film some very graphic sex scenes together. And Placido said her 49-year-old co-star confessed he was lacking experience.

'He confessed … that he didn't do lots of sex scenes,' Placido told People magazine.

'I felt like this was in a way something new to him, he wasn't that experienced.'

Placido, who plays prostitute Clara and Clooney's love interest in the film, explained that Clooney had trouble relaxing during the intimate scenes.

But once she convinced Clooney to trust her, it was much easier.

'We had to find a way to make it natural and let your body speak somehow,' Placido says.

'We were very open to one another to try and make it work. We just said "let’s trust each other" and we did. I felt like we had to let ourselves go.'

And she insists that the sex scene was a pivotal part of the film - hence the need to get it done perfectly.

'It had to look real; it is the turning point for the two characters,' she says. 'I can tell you that watching it, I don't feel as calm as I did when I was on set filming it. Just watching it is a little like … wow.'

Clooney plays an assassin called Jack in the movie, a man who is attempting to escape his trade after one last assignment. He hides out in the Italian countryside, which is where he meets Placido's character Clara.

And he is right at home filming in Italy, as he owns a home on Lake Como.
Clooney has been dating Italian model and TV presenter Elisabetta Canalis since last summer.

The American opens in the U.S on Wednesday.
