Katherine Jenkins and Gethin Jones take a stroll through their new neighbourhood

Katherine Jenkins and her TV presenter boyfriend Gethin Jones have snapped up a £4.7 million family home in one of London’s most exclusive areas – sparking rumours they will tie the knot within months.

The couple’s new neighbours include ITN newsreader Trevor McDonald, actors Philip Glenister and Richard E. Grant, and political pundit and author Andrew Marr. Amanda Holden is also said to be looking for a property in the area.

The newly-renovated property on the edge of Richmond Park in South-West London boasts eight bedrooms, four reception rooms and a state-of-the-art kitchen, and is described as ‘one of the best properties’ in the area.

The 30-year-old Welsh mezzo-soprano is reportedly ‘over the moon’ about her new home and its manicured garden, which is surrounded by security cameras.

A friend of the couple said that an engagement announcement could now be on the cards.

‘Over the past few months, Katherine and Gethin have become increasingly close and have realised they really do want to spend the rest of their lives together,’ said the friend. ‘It looks like wedding bells could be ringing very soon.

‘They have found the perfect home to settle down in. Katherine was hoping to crack America and possibly buy a place out there, but she has obviously decided to settle on this side of the pond.’

Katherine, who is worth an estimated £10 million, threw a farewell barbecue last week at the home in Muswell Hill, North London, where she has been living since moving from South Wales in March 2008.

Gethin, 32, moved in with her nine months later. They met in 2007 when he was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing and Katherine made a guest appearance on the show.

She has said of their romance: ‘We live together because we like being together.’
The new home is close to the Thames, where the couple have already enjoyed summer walks – and there’s an excellent primary school nearby should they want to start a family.

The classical singer has recently spoken of her desire to become a mother. Asked whether she wanted children, she said: ‘Oh, definitely one day. I can see myself married with children. I want to be a really good mum. Ultimately, I would want to be able to combine both a family life and my singing career.’

News of their move has already spread through the area. One local said: ‘We have all heard that Katherine is going to be our new neighbour, which is very exciting. She will be getting a very warm welcome.’

That’s just as well...  Katherine and Gethin have told friends they plan to have ‘an almighty welcome party’ once they have settled in.
