When asked about how the status of the film after Paul Greengrass left it, the actor says he will wait for the helmer before he continues working on it.

Paul Greengrass has boldly stated he has quit "Bourne 4", citing the call for a different challenge as the reason for his departure. However, Matt Damon still believes that the helmer of the second and third "Bourne" films will be back for this untitled Bourne 4 project.

Being met at the press junket for his forthcoming film "Invictus", the actor was asked by Collider about the status of the fourth "Bourne" film after Greengrass dropped out of the project. Showing a confidence, Damon replied, "I'll just wait for him and when he wants to do one, we'll do it."

Moreover, the 39-year-old who always declared that he will only reprise his role as Jason Bourne if Greengrass directs the film, believed "Bourne 4" will definitely happen. "I think it will happen down the road. We just don't have a script right now," he said.

News that Paul Greengrass left the next "Bourne" movie was first brought into attention by The Playlist. At that time, the site reported the director was upset when Universal Pictures hired a new writer without his prior consent, while the studio was getting frustrated with his upcoming thriller "Green Zone", for which he spends a lot of the studio's money.

However, Greengrass shot down rumor of him having problems with studio by releasing a statement which mentioned, "My decision to not return a third time as director is simply about feeling the call for a different challenge. There's been no disagreement with Universal Pictures." Moreover, he believed the film will go on without him, stating "Jason Bourne existed before me and will continue, and I hope to remain involved in some capacity as the series moves on."

"Bourne 4" will serve as the latest "Bourne" movie made after "The Bourne Ultimatum" although it was earlier hinted that the "Bourne" movie franchise will end in the third film. Frank Marshall has been set to produce and Universal Pictures has planned to release the film in 2011.
