She has made her name as a fashion icon for the 'real woman', and today Coleen Rooney showed exactly why she earned her title.

The 24-year-old WAG looked stunning in a regal purple satin dress as she arrived at Chester Racecourse for the races this evening.

Coleen's night out came after she made the difficult decision not to fly to South Africa ahead of England's World Cup game against Germany on Sunday.

While fellow WAGs including Christine Bleakley, Toni Poole and Carly Cole have made the trip, Coleen has opted to stay in England with seven-month old son Kai.

But she is certainly making the most of the London sunshine, and looked beautiful as she arrived at the racecourse wearing coordinating purple heels with her hair teased into a full, backcombed bun.

And it appears even though she isn't in Sun City, she is keeping in touch with husband Wayne, as she was photographed chatting animatedly on a mobile phone as she watched the racing.

However, Coleen previously said she will fly out to South Africa if England reach the semi-finals of the tournament.

Manager Fabio Capello has relaxed his ban on WAGs joining the players in Sun City.

Fabio's own wife Laura Ghisi has joined the England camp along with Emile Heskey's fiancée Chantelle Tagoe.

She arrived in Port Elizabeth with the couple's two sons Jaden, four, and Reigan, two.

Ellie Darby, who is the girlfriend of Matthew Upson, and defender Glen Johnson's wife Laura are also in the African nation.

Perhaps Wayne would benefit from having his wife and son close by.

He has been horribly out of sorts in the World Cup when he had been expected to lead England's bid for glory.

He was forced to apologise after badmouthing the 'disloyal' fans who jeered after England's pitiful 0-0 draw against Algeria.

His mood didn't improve a whole lot better as he hit the post against Slovenia and was eventually substituted leaving England to hang on for a narrow victory.

But cometh the hour, cometh the Scouser and fans will be praying his devilry returns in time to upset the men from Deutschland on Sunday.

Yesterday, Coleen showed off her WAG credentials as she was spotted out shopping in Liverpool pushing a £1,400 Roberto Cavalli pram she recently purchased for baby Kai.

Helpfully, the logo for the designer uses his initials - two C's intersected with an R - which are also Coleen's.

So the logo-ed pram matches her silver Land Rover, which has her initials embroidered into the seats.

Coleen, who has just signed a £4.5million deal to be the face of Littlewoods, wore a colourful maxi dress with Chanel flip flops for her trip out with her mother yesterday.
