Hungover: Victoria Beckham struggled to stay awake as she left Nice airport in France earlier today


For a woman who always looks extremely immaculate, even Victoria Beckham can suffer the effects of the morning after the night before.

The former pop star looked bleary-eyed and very tired as she slumped over in a lift at Nice airport in France this morning.

As she prepared to board a flight back to the UK, it was revealed that her fatigue was no so much to do with her hectic lifestyle as a mother-of-three and an in-demand fashion designer, but the effects of a weekend of partying.

The 36-year-old star had spent the weekend at the Beckham's family chateau in Bargemon in the south of France, where she and family and friends had celebrated her and husband David's 11th wedding anniversary.

A source close to the star revealed that Victoria was very hungover after the eventful weekend and felt so bad she nearly cancelled her trip back to the UK.

But with her latest collection being signed off to it can be shown at New York Fashion Week this September, she didn't want to let anyone down.

Despite her banging head, she looked pretty in a Marc Jacobs sundress, but probably wasn't aware she was being photographed without her favourite sunglasses - revealing her shattered appearance and the bags beneath her eyes.

Struggling to keep her eyes open, Victoria supported herself on the metal bar in the lift while she attempted to listen to her friends' conversation.

The former singer is no stranger to living a jet-setting lifestyle, but has been busier than usual in recent weeks, splitting her time between France and England.

While husband David and their three sons are currently enjoying a break in France, Victoria has had to frequently fly back to Britain for business meetings and events.

She jetted back to the UK earlier this week to attend the unveiling of a new 'baby' Range Rover in Kensington.

Victoria, who has been drafted in to design the interior of the new model, wore a nude asymmetric drape neck dress from her Autumn/Winter 2010 range for the event.

Her stressed appearance may also be down to recent reports about the status of her marriage.

But the couple's publicists moved swiftly to deny Frank PR's managing director Andrew Bloch's claims that the pair were about to split.

He had written on Twitter: 'I am hearing from a number of sources that Victoria and David Beckham are due to announce their separation in a few hours.'

He later updated his page, adding: 'I have confirmation direct from Team Beckham that the separation rumour is "utter nonsense". Very good news indeed.'

Bloch later told the Daily Mail: 'I was just re-tweeting what everyone else had been saying, when all of a sudden I got a message from my friend Simon Oliviera saying it was rubbish.

'I was more than pleased to put up a denial. I am so sorry for any problems that were caused.'
