New skill: Kerry Katona messes around with her friend and former road manager Carl Machin as he teaches her to fish today


Her arms wrapped around a hunky fisherman, Kerry Katona seemed to be having a great time in the May sunshine today.

Laughing and posing for the watching camera, the reality TV star gave her tattooed friend a hug as he showed her how to fish.

Following her move to picturesque Godstone in Surrey, Kerry has embraced life in the countryside.

The fishing trip at a lake near her home was her latest foray into village life.

In her £38 Topshop jumper, the 29-year-old and daughter Heidi appeared slightly puzzled as Carl Machin showed them how to cast.

Machin is Kerry's former road manager, who worked with her for four years back in her days with Atomic Kitten.

The 37-year-old now works for singer Peter Andre, but was enjoying a day off while Andre is in Italy.

A friend of Kerry's told MailOnline she thought her three-year-old daughter would enjoy the day out.

'She had never been fishing, but I said it was something that I remembered doing with my dad when I was young,' said the friend.

After damaging revelations about her use of cocaine, and the end of her disastrous marriage to cabbie Mark Croft, Kerry is busy reinventing herself.

Today's carefully stage-managed scenes brought back memories of Peter Andre in the wake of his split from Katie Price.

Andre, who shares Kerry's manager Claire Powell, was pictured frolicking with his children, and looking mournful yet perfect while reflecting on the end of his marriage.

Kerry isn't the only celebrity to take an interest in fishing.

Danielle Lloyd recently revealed she has been signed up to front a new fishing show - with her footballer fiancé Jamie O'Hara.

Last night Kerry joined Gemma Arterton and Jake Gyllenhaal on the red carpet at The Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time.

She showed off the results of her new diet and exercise regime in a black lace dress, looking assured amongst the Hollywood A-listers.

Kerry has been building her self-esteem with the help of personal coaches Nick and Eva Speakman.

A source told the Star: She's been working closely with Nick and Eva again for a few weeks and they're really helping her with her issues.

'It's not something that's going to happen overnight but she's definitely on the right track.'
