Sheer disaster: the usually stylish Nicola Roberts misses the mark in this crocheted design at the launch of Topshops new flagship store in Knightsbridge

With her slender frame and perfect hair and make-up, Nicola Roberts has certainly made the most of her physical attributes.

And with her fortune estimated at an impressive £5m, the Girls Aloud singer should surely have no trouble affording a new dress.

But despite this the 24-year-old's sheer crocheted dress failed to hit the mark last night.

Nicola had even left the label in the daring minidress, perhaps indicating that it was a last minute choice.

The pale pink colour left the red-head looking washed out, while the design was more suited to the stage than the restrained environment of a Topshop store.

It was a rare fashion slip-up for Nicola, who has shown a keen interest in fashion.

In comparison to the singer's outfit, her fellow guest Kate Moss looked relatively demure in her satin playsuit and blazer.

The pair were joined by Topshop boss Sir Philip Green for the launch party for the new flagship Knightsbridge store.

Situated opposite Harrods, the flagship store will stock Topshops's Boutique, Unique, mainline, footwear and accessories collections.

Other VIPs at the event included model Daisy Lowe, actress Jaime Winstone, model Eva Herzigova, model Yasmin Le Bon and singer Alexandra Burke.

American Vogue editor Anna Wintour was also in attendance, as was Holly Valance and her businessman boyfriend Nick Candy.
