X Factor contestant Lloyd Daniels is counting his blessings after being involved in a horrific car crash - just five weeks after passing his driving test.
The 17-year-old singer was knocked unconscious and suffered whiplash, bruising and burns in the smash in his new Mini.

The £13,000 vehicle was written off in the crash in London just after dropping off fellow X Factor singer Lucie Jones at a tube station last week.


Lloyd was taken to hospital for X-rays - and is described as being lucky to be alive.

He was recovering today at his family home in Treharris, South Wales.

He was forced to cancel a gig in Shropshire because of his injuries.

Lloyd posted a message on Twitter reassuring his fans saying: 'Thanks for the support guys.

'I didn't want to worry you all myself because I knew you'd panic. Thanks again.'

Lloyd had just dropped fellow X Factor star Lucie Jones at a Tube station in London when the accident happened.

Lloyd's mother Lisa said: 'We just thank God it was not much worse.

'He is a really careful driver. He has only just passed his test so he wants to look after his licence and not get any points.

'He's still recovering. He's got quite bad whiplash, his chest is all bruised and he was in shock. He was really upset.'

Lisa said Lucie, who lives with Lloyd in London, rushed to St George's Hospital in Tooting to support him.

She said: 'I think he finally got released about 3am and they got a lift back to their flat.'

Lisa fears the smash will put Lloyd off driving.

She added: 'We're trying to make sure he is not nervous about driving.

'He's so grown up, but having a crash like that on your own, away from home, must have been scary.

'But he's a fighter and he will get back on the road soon.'
