Farewell: Steph Fearon was evicted from Over The Rainbow last night missing out on the chance to play Dorothy in a West End production of the Wizard of Oz

Steph Fearon tipped Welsh singer Sophie Evans to win the role of Dorothy in Andrew Lloyd Webber's next musical after she was booted off television talent show Over The Rainbow last night.

Fearon, 21, said she was 'not disappointed at all' but admitted she would have liked to make next week's final of the search for a leading lady for The Wizard of Oz.

Her fate was sealed when Lord Lloyd Webber chose to save Lauren Samuels rather than Fearon when the pair ended up bottom in the public vote.

'I'm disappointed not to have gone that little bit further but at the end of the day I wanted whatever the public wanted,' she said.

Fearon, who admitted she would love to star in the West End musicals The Lion King, Wicked or Sister Act, said Lord Lloyd Webber had asked to meet her later this week to discuss her future.

Samuels now faces Evans and Danielle Hope in the contest's final when the winner will be chosen solely by a viewers' vote.

Last three standing: Sophie Evans, Lauren Samuels and Danielle Hope will battle it out in the final next week

'I would love to see Sophie win,' said Fearon. 'She's my best mate in the competition, talented and she's improved so much. I think she'd make a great Dorothy.'

The show's judges Sheila Hancock, Charlotte Church and John Partridge all agreed Steph was not right to play the orphan from Kansas after this week's performances although she has been praised as a natural leading lady on past shows.

Lord Lloyd Webber said he saved Samuels as she was better for the role of Dorothy.

Fearon said: 'I had the best time of my life. I've made friends for life. I've learnt so much. Thanks to everyone backstage - you're all amazing. I've had the time of my life.'

Awaiting their fate: The four semi-finalists await to hear who is safe in the contest

She added: 'I'm not disappointed at all. I would never have thought I would get through to the semi-final.'

Fearon said she would speak to her agent tomorrow and hoped her appearance on the show would have brought her offers of work on television or in musical theatre.

The performer's parents Phil Fearon, the lead singer in 1980s band Galaxy, and Dee Galdes-Fearon, who sang on 1994 Baby D hit Let Me Be Your Fantasy, were her proudest supporters during the series.

'I thought my mum would be really emotional but they are fine, really proud of me,' she said.

Emotional: After her eviction, Steph predicted Welsh singer Lucy, left, would win the show next week

Fearon said she was proud to have performed live in front of millions of people, adding: 'I can't believe it was me up there doing that. It's so much pressure. We have worked so hard.

'I don't think anything will be as hard as that in my life.'

Fearon, who grew up in Kingsbury, north west London, and now lives in the city centre, was in the bottom two in the first week of the show and said that made her appreciate the experience even more.

Saying goodbye: Steph came in the bottom two with Lauren Samuels, seen behind

'That's the best thing that could have happened to me,' she said.

'It spurred me on every week, fighting for my place. I was so much more grateful for it.'

She will return during next week's final but is looking forward to a week without the pressure the finalists face.

'I'm really looking forward to some sleep and a glass of wine,' she said.
