Schmitten: David Schwimmer with Zoe Buckman. The Friends star is planning to pop the question to his English girlfriend


He once said 'I haven't even come close to an engagement' - but it seems that David Schwimmer is now planning to pop the question to his English girlfriend Zoe Buckman.

Sources close to the 43-year-old Friends actor say he wants to marry the part-time photographer, who is 20 years his junior.

The couple met in 2007 when Zoe, 23, was working as a waitress and served at Schwimmer's table at the Cuckoo Club in London's West End. At the time he was directing the movie Run Fatboy Run in East London.

Now Zoe has left her home in Stoke Newington and moved to the US to live with the actor.

'David is smitten with Zoe and says she is the one,' said a friend working closely with Schwimmer.

'Things have moved very fast. He wanted to see how they got along living together and it has been a big success.

'He wants to ask Zoe to marry him, it's just a case of timing.

'He has been living with Zoe in Chicago recently working on a stage show called Trust and they will probably make an announcement when they come back to LA.

'We are all bracing ourselves for good news. He has said we won't have to wait long.'

Brunette Zoe has already introduced him to her family and they all spent last Christmas together.

Earlier this year the couple were seen shopping hand in hand in New York and Zoe has told her family she may stay in LA for good to set up a permanent home with him.

Schwimmer, who is notoriously private, has been linked with a handful of glamorous women, including the singer Natalie Imbruglia. He also dated singer Gina Lee who dumped him in 2004.

Prior to that Schwimmer was reportedly engaged to Israeli actress Mili Avital.
A spokesman for Schwimmer declined to comment.

Jennifer Aniston may have some surprise competition for the affections of Gerard Butler - Trinny Woodall.

Jen, 41, has been linked with actor Butler since their on-screen romance in The Bounty Hunter, but I spotted the charming Scotsman deep in conversation with Trinny at last week's premiere of the Lloyd Webber musical Love Never Dies.

'They swapped numbers and discussed a trip to Glasgow,' I'm told.

'The conversation got rather deep and Trinny was hanging on his every word.'

Butler, 40, made a beeline for Trinny in 2008 after she separated from husband Johnny Elichaoff.

At the time, Trinny, 45, said: 'It's too soon!'

Marco Pierre to become face of turkeys

Having resurrected Knorr as the nation's leading stock cube, TV chef Marco Pierre White is now hoping to revive Bernard Matthews.

The Hell's Kitchen presenter has just signed a lucrative deal to be the 'face' of the Norfolk-based turkey suppliers.

'I remember Bernie on the ads telling us how "bootiful" his turkeys were,' says Marco.

'My message will be that turkeys are not just for Christmas, they can be for many occasions.'

I'm assured there won't be a turkey twizzler in sight.
