Model rocker: Kate Moss grabs the microphone and gives a private performance at the Mummy Rocks charity fundraiser in London last night

Talk about embarrassing mums. One moment they're behaving themselves, the next they're up on stage joining in the karaoke.

With rock chic outfit, artfully messed hair and red lipstick, Kate Moss, 36, was showing a host of fashionable mother's at the annual Mummy Rocks event last night how NOT to grow old gracefully.

The model, whose daughter Lila Grace is now six, wore a typically edgy outfit of black corset dress, blazer and stilettos

Kate certainly lived up to the name of the event - throwing her hair around as she enjoyed the entertainment before grabbing the microphone to the amusement of her friends.

Partner Jamie Hince famously told her she couldn't sing on stage with The Kills, so this was the perfect opportunity for her to play the rock chick.

Kate's corset dress seemed to be the outfit of choice, with former Arsenal star Thierry Henry's ex-wife Claire Merry and Tamara Beckwith both donning them

Meanwhile Kate's best friend Sadie Frost, a mother of four, chose a more classic outfit - although she stuck to the black colour scheme.

Fashion designer Sadie, 44, wore an asymmetrical black dress with ruffles at the shoulder and black shoe boots.

Texas frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri went for a more low key look in white blazer, black jeans and t-shirt.

The rock and roll fundraising event, organised by jewellers Garrard, raised funds for the Great Ormond Street Hospital.

And it wasn't just the Mummy's who joined the party.

Actor Rhys Ifans attended in a smart black suit, a white rose in his buttonhole.

The Clash's Mick Jones, Spandau Ballet's Gary Kemp and Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie were also in attendance.
