Who's the rose from? Country star Taylor Swift clutches the flower while leaving the Hilton Adelaide Hotel in Australia


Country singer Taylor Swift was spotted carrying a single red rose yesterday leaving onlookers wondering whether she had landed herself a Valentine in time for the romantic holiday.

The 20-year-old, who split from Valentine's Day co-star Taylor Lautner in December after a brief romance, smiled happily as she clutched the flower while leaving the Hilton Adelaide Hotel in Australia.

Dressed in a dark blue floral dress, cream cardigan and flat black and grey loafers, the pretty blonde looked relaxed as she prepared to leave Australia following her final show in the country.

Swift now has a few days off before her gig in Tokyo, Japan on Wednesday.

She has previously said that she plans to spend Valentine’s Day with her friends.

She said: 'I typically don't ever have a boyfriend on Valentine's Day. I see it as an opportunity to just hang out with my other single girlfriends.'

Taylor recently teamed up with American Greetings to create a range of cards, gift packaging and stationary.

Instead of simply lending her name and likeness to the collection, Swift had actually created the designs herself, with some including song lyrics from her big hits.

One of the designs features a love heart in a golden frame with the words Love Story - the title of her breakout international song.

Another card depicts people riding on Chair-o-planes with a verse from her song Fearless.

Only one of the creations features Swift, standing on stage with her guitar in a black and white shot.

Swift said: 'My idea of a great song is a song that says how I feel better than I could. I feel the same way about greeting cards.

'I've always been fascinated by feelings and how we express them to each other.

Getting to write and design these cards is a wonderful experience.'

Swift has been single since ending her romance with Twilight hunk Lautner in December.

Director Garry Marshall said the chemistry between the pair was instant during filming: 'The girl always likes it because she says "the director told me I have to kiss you" so she's of the hook, she has license and then they kissed.

'The first three takes were OK and by the sixth take they started to go together and then they were an item.'

With Swift currently single, her mother and manger Andrea Swift had reportedly advised her daughter to stay away from boys to focus on her career.

Swift has enjoyed a phenomenal year and won four Grammys last month.

As she prepares to write her third album, the follow-up to 2008 hit Fearless, Swift needs to be focused on her music.

A source said: 'Andrea has told Taylor in no uncertain terms that she must put her career ahead of dating boys.

'Andrea, who has a firm grip on her daughter’s career and personal life, thinks Taylor has worked far too hard to let everything go to the wall for the sake of a boy.'
