Simon Cowell's days living alone as a carefree bachelor seem to be at an end.
The X Factor boss showed Mezghan Hussainy - to whome he proposed on Valentine's Day - round his Beverly Hills mansion yesterday.

Cowell, 50, and the 36-year-old make-up artist were pictured strolling into the gates of the £14m property and up to the huge, glossy, black front door.

Clutching his phone, Cowell acknowledged the waiting paparazzi, as Mezghan opened the door, possibly trying out her key for the first time.

Earlier, the couple had been snapped strolling round the neighbourhood, seemingly nonchalant to the paparazzi following their every move.

Although the reports of their engagement have yet to be officially confirmed, Cowell's mother Julie said she was 'delighted' that he had finally decided to settle down.

Speaking to the Sun newspaper, the 84-year-old said she feared that her son would become one of life's eternal bachelors and would never get married.

But she added that she was 'thrilled' at the engagement and said she thoroughly approved of her soon-to-be daughter-in-law.

She said: 'I'm delighted that he's finally settled down. I feel as a mother, and like all parents do, that when their sons get to a certain age, particularly 50, we want to see them settled with a good woman.

'I could never really see Simon being committed like he is now. I would never have imagined that he would get married. I think turning 50 made him realise it was time to get married and start a family.'

Julie - whose husband Eric, Simon's dad, died in 1999 - also revealed that Mezghan, who Cowell reportedly called 'The One' this week, moved her things into his Beverly Hills home.

She said: 'She's going to live with him in LA. He asked her to move in with him and she said yes. They were moving in things to Simon's house yesterday. They will live together now.'

And she added that she gave the couple their blessing as soon as her son told her he was getting hitched, having met Mezghan several times - including recently in London.

She said: 'He's very contented with her. She's a lovely woman and I'm delighted that he's so happy. She's perfect for him. She's very beautiful and she's got a lovely personality.'

Julie, who is very close to her son, said she feared that she wouldn't live to see Cowell get married.

She said: 'I thought I would have departed from this world before Simon got married. I'm so happy he's committed to this girl.'
