Loaded with bags: Nicola Roberts leaves a cocktail party in Mayfair last night; she has joined the Sunday Times Rich List with a £5m fortune


She's often pictured pouting, or turning her head away from the cameras, but Nicola Roberts had a wide smile on her face as she stepped out last night.

She certainly has every reason to be happy - she has made it onto a list of Britain's top ten richest young musicians.

At just 24, the Girls Aloud singer has amassed an estimated £5 million fortune.

And as Nicola visited a cocktail bar before returning to the fashionable May Fair Hotel with her Chanel bag tucked under her arm, it was clear being rich has brought many her many advantages.

Nicola wore an of-the-moment flattering tribal print sundress and metallic wedges, as she and her friend enjoyed their evening out.

Today it was announced that for the first time Nicola and bandmates Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding and Kimberley Walsh all made the highly-regarded under-30s Sunday Times Rich list.

But despite their fortunes, the four are dwarfed by the band's most successful member, X Factor judge Cheryl Cole, worth at least £10million.

Nicola owes her fortune to the reality TV show Popstars: The Rivals, which created Girls Aloud.

She nearly missed out on her big chance when she was eliminated before the final stage.

But another contestant pulled out of the show after objecting to the contract, and Nicola returned, winning a place in the band.

The band is currently on a hiatus, which was initially meant to last a year.

Nicola, who lives with boyfriend Charlie Fennell, has spent the time working on her make-up line for fair skin, Dainty Dolls, and making a documentary on the dangers of tanning.

But she recently admitted that Irish singer Nadine, now based in Los Angeles, has not spoke to the group since the Autumn.

She said: 'If I'm really honest, we haven't spoken to Nadine since we did the Coldplay gig at Wembley in September. I talked to the other girls about it on Monday and no, none of us have heard from her.'

But she insisted there was no feud or bad feeling between any of them.
