Tiny: Catherine Zeta-Jones shocked fans by showing off her skinny legs in a short skirt as she arrived at a New York theatre last week

But it seems Catherine Zeta-Jones's shapely body is no more after the actress displayed her new slender figure as she arrived at a New York theatre last week.

The 40-year-old actress is currently starring in Broadway music A Little Night Music, and it appears the stress of performing eight shows a week is taking its toll.

Wearing a black mini dress and black cardigan, accessorised with a Chanel handbag and sparkly shoes, Catherine's legs appeared to be scarily skinny as she got out of her car.

She was accompanied by an assistant who carried Catherine's dog Figaro, protecting the pooch's fluffy white fur from the dirty New York pavements.

But fans of the once-curvy actress can breathe a sigh of relief, as Catherine's run in the Trevor Nunn musical, for which she has received critical acclaim, is coming to an end on June 20.

Despite her new skinny body shape, Catherine has always insisted she eats healthily.

After pictures of her were printed in 2007 looking thin, the actress said: 'How could I ever, ever be anorexic? I’m just working out and not chomping down what I usually chomp down.’
