Pretty in pink: Coleen Rooney reveals perhaps more than she intended at Aintree today

With its high neckline and demure hemline, Coleen Rooney seemed to be aiming for a sophisticated look as she arrived at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool today.

But the footballer’s WAG suffered a wardrobe malfunction when the wind caught her sheer pink gown, revealing it to be perhaps more sheer than she first thought.

Clinging to her figure, the floaty dress provided Coleen with her very own Princess Diana moment – reminiscent of the time the royal was photographed wearing a skirt that appeared almost transparent in the sun.

But the new mother needn’t have worried too much – for the fashion faux pas merely served to reveal how quickly she has regained her figure following the birth of son Kai in November.

Meanwhile fellow WAG Alex Curran made her own fashion splash in a grey outfit with bizarrely over-the-top pointed shoulder pads on the day of the Grand National, which was won by Tony McCoy riding Don't Push It.

The mother-of-two was spotted in the stands wearing smoky black eye make-up with her hair scraped back and simple diamond studded earrings to complete her look.

Coleen appeared at the race yesterday too to judge the Ladies’ Day Best Dressed competition in an elegant black mini dress and Christian Laboutin heels.

The 24-year-old told reporters: ‘I’ve never worn black before for the races, I usually go for something colourful, but I wanted to wear something different this year.

‘I love the way all the girls make such an effort, I’ve seen lots of different colours and shapes.’
There had been speculation she wore the darker colour after her husband's Manchester United team were knocked out of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

George Primarolo, of Totesport, said: 'Black was 5/1. We did have a few bets on black because United were knocked of out Europe and people were thinking she would be in mourning.'

Today Coleen accessorised her look with a pale pink clutch and open-toed heels, teamed with dangly gold earrings and a bouffant pony-tail.

She declared Sophie Farclough the winner of the annual Style 2010 competition and presented her with a bundle of prizes including a £12,000 Kia Venga car and a 10-day holiday in Barbados
